Central Otago Art Awards 2011 – Finalist

This piece is inspired by the tremendous resolve and dignity shown by Cantabrians in the aftermath of the February 2011 earthquake.

They have required not only the inner strength to help themselves, but the humility to accept help from others. Many of us are forced to draw on these same qualities to overcome our own crises.

The rubble consists of fragments from the historic Lyttelton Timeball Station (1876 – 2011) brought down during the earthquake and aftershocks.
